Richard Taylor was always exceptionally horrible with money, and was desperate to keep this secret from his wife. In order to hide his growing debt he deliberately set fire to his mothers Dundas, Ontario home on July 9, 2018, killing both his mother Carla and stepfather Alan Rutherford in the blaze.
