Who Is Hector LaSalle? This Conservative Judge Could Lead New York's Top Court

New York Governor Kathy Hochul nominated judge Hector LaSalle to the state's top court. Unions, civil rights, and abortion rights groups have forcefully opposed LaSalle, for good reason.

For example: In 2018, he voted to protect a utility company over a worker whose child got lead poisoning from debris. LaSalle, a former prosecutor, protected police after they threatened to arrest a victim of domestic violence, then did nothing to prevent her ex from attacking again. He has also voted in favor of a prosecutor who discriminated against black jurors.
