Users of X (formerly Twitter) will not be able to block people from seeing their posts or leaving comments, Elon Musk has said. The social media platform owner said the function "makes no sense" - adding that it will only be possible to block someone from sending direct messages.

Social media company X, formerly known as Twitter, will remove a protective feature that lets users block other accounts, Elon Musk has said in another controversial move for the company he bought last year.

Elon Musk says the block button on X, which users rely on to stop harassment, 'makes no sense,' and he wants to eliminate it. Amid a surge in hate speech on X identified by researchers, the platform's owner, Elon Musk, contemplates removing X's block button.
