Models are exposing the ugly side of the modeling industry. Behind all the glamor and prestige, the reality for many models looks like exploitative contracts, stolen checks, controlling agents, and sexual abuse. But models are organizing with the Model Alliance to change that.

Sarah Ziff, the founder of Model Alliance, and models Madisyn Ritland, Nidhi Sunil, Mari Malek, and Rozi Levine joined us to expose the dark reality of the modeling industry. The model alliance is fighting for a safer and more equitable fashion industry for models and all fashion workers and an end to the cycle of financial exploitation and sexual abuse.

The Model Alliance passed the Adult Survivors Act last year which creates a one-time, one year look back window for survivors of sexual assault who are outside the statute of limitations. Any adult survivor can now file a civil case against their abuser or the institution that protected them. The window ends November 24, 2023. Find out more here: https://www.modelalliance.org/asa

Models and fashion workers are now organizing to pass the Fashion Workers Act which would close the loopholes that allow modeling agencies to get away with predatory and exploitative practices. You can find out more about that bill here: https://www.modelalliance.org/fashionworkersact
