If you sweat, shake and wanna cry every time a lightning storm hits, like many people and animals do, then you have astraphobia, better known as fear of thunder and lightning. It is normal, because thunderstorms can be unpredictable and everyone, animals included, is afraid of the unknown.

This little guy had a very close encounter with a lightning strike and his first instincts was to flee the frick out of there! He’s just casually sitting there on the front lawn, minding his own squirrelly business and BAM! Of course he jumps right out of his hide, poor fella.

Humans have one in a million chance of being hit by a lightning a year; one in 12.000 in a lifetime. The odds for animals are unfamiliar, because the cases and not well-documented, but a research from a Texan university says that lightning is the culprit for 80% of all accidental deaths in livestock.
