Something fishy and fun at the Aquarium of Niagara

There is always something fishy and fun going on at the Aquarium of Niagara. All of the new construction is not keeping the crowds away. Executive Director Gary Siddall says "we're going in a new direction, the way we are framing the future is if we're not building, we're doing something wrong." The new three thousand square foot Penguin exhibit is a work in progress, scheduled to open in the Spring of 2018. There's a popular seven seas exhibit and a real crowd pleaser is the shark exhibit that opened last summer. Tammy Weber, Assistant Supervisor of Marine Mammal Care has a new resident she's working with. Medusa, a two-year old seal that was rescued off the coast of Long Island is scheduled for cataract surgery. Tammy says that she and her team of trainers work with the seals to build relationships, adding "a lot of people don't realize that more than half of our animals are rescue animals and deemed non-releasable, which means they wouldn't have anywhere else to go if it weren't for our aquariums. June is Aquarium Month, but there is plenty to celebrate all year round at the Aquarium of Niagara, Gary Siddall shares "we're looking at the Aquarium's future, we want to be sustainable and we want to be better and bigger.
