Elon Musk: Freedom of Speech on Twitter Important To Function of Democracy

Elon Musk — the head of Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink and The Boring Company talks about acquiring Twitter with Chris Anderson at TED 2022 on April 14, 2022. Elon Musk said he’s trying to buy Twitter to turn it into a bastion of free speech and reduce “civilizational risk” to freedom and democracy.

It's important to the function of democracy. It's important to the function of the United States as a free country, and many other countries. And to help, actually to help freedom in the world, more broadly than the US. And so I think it's a, its a, you know, I think the risk, the civilizational risk, is decreased if Twitter, the more we can increase the trust of Twitter as a public platform.
