House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said in a speech at the New York Stock Exchange that the House would soon vote on a bill lifting the debt ceiling for a year. The California Republican said the plan would “save taxpayers trillions of dollars, make us less dependent upon China, curb our high inflation — all without touching Social Security and Medicare.”
