Thailand's former premier Thaksin Shinawatra on Tuesday set foot on home soil for the first time since 2008, returning from self-exile to a Bangkok jail, just as real estate mogul Srettha Thavisin won the backing of Thailand's parliament to become prime minister. It paves the way to a new coalition government and an end to weeks of uncertainty and political stalemate. Flora Bradley-Watson reports.
