A top Russian astronomer suffered a “sharp deterioration” in his health after Russia’s ambitious moon mission failed on August 20. Mikhail Marov, a leading Russian astronomer since the Soviet Union era, was rushed to the hospital soon after Luna-25 crashed on the moon. The 90-year-old was a chief adviser on the Luna-25 mission that failed when the spacecraft crash-landed on the moon on August 20. Several Russian critics have blamed corruption within the country's space agency for the failure of the mission.
