After my last solo camp trip I removed my Roof Top Tent and made the decision to go back to an light weight MSR ground tent for vehicle based travels and wilderness backpacking.
The Roof Top Tent served Megan and I well when we travelled Europe and lived in the tent for an extended period of time, but now that we have a young son its shortcomings have begin to show. Its long setup and pack away time along side its lack of internal space no longer warrant its weight, drain on fuel economy and the effects it has on vehicle stability. Obviously its all vehicle and roof tent specific but going bigger to accommodate the family means more weight up top.

I have always been an avid backpacker and bushcraft enthusiast and originally designed my vehicle as an adventure Jeep as appose to an overland tourer. Keeping things simple yet robust and carrying the essentials has always sat well with me so using my backpacking gear with the Jeep has helped me ditch unwanted duplication and make the setup more modular.
