Why would you lease a car?

Surely you'd have to be a complete mug to lease a car wouldn't you?

In this one we look at the most basic explanation of why leasing works for some people some of the time and that is the total cost of ownership/stewardship - something that I would always do before buying or leasing a new car. It's not financial advice, it's just common sense.

Knowing the total cost of your time with the car is a very important factor when deciding if leasing vs buying a car is for you or not. What I didn't mention in the video is that leasing also gives you a known quantity (you know exactly the costs before you sign up) where the costs when buying a car can fluctuate massively due to changes in the used car market, government policy and the economy etc.

It's not for everyone, nothing is; but don't dismiss it out of hand if you don't really understand it - and don't get upset if others choose to do it.
