There’s a new variant of COVID-19, known as BA.2.86, or “Eris.” Various news outlets are framing it as being a new risk, and concerns are circulating that it could trigger governments to revive some COVID restrictions. Meanwhile, Evergrande Group—one of China's largest real estate companies—has filed for bankruptcy in New York. And in other news, overnight country music star Oliver Anthony says he turned down millions in offers after his song went viral.
