Squirrel steals peanuts from under blind dog's nose
Briva is an elderly Great Dane who used to chase squirrels off the cottage deck with great agility. No sensible squirrel would ever have dared to come this close when she was in her prime. Now that she's eleven years old and her sight and hearing are failing her, she has gone into retirement.
Somehow, this bold little red squirrel understands that she is no longer up for the chase. He scampers around and even taunts her by sitting only inches away from her while he plays with the peanut before running away. It is almost as if he wants to rub it in that he's not afraid of the giant dog. Briva has found her peace with the cottage critters and prefers to stay comfortable in a sunny spot while they gather their nuts.
She spends a good part of her summer days lounging in the sun or exploring the island in Parry Sound, enjoying the smells. It's always nice to see an elderly pooch that loves a good and comfortable life. Her owners must love her very much, and after all this time – she is basically a part of the family. Now she can remember her hunting days with nostalgia while she lounges on the sun.
