The fly river turtle is a super rare, fully aquatic freshwater turtle, also known as the Pig-nosed Turtle for one very obvious reason. It is the only freshwater turtle with flippers like a sea turtle. It eats a variety of fruits and low-protein tortoise pellets. Here we see a baby enjoying some red dragon fruit. Awesome!

Not much is known about their general behavior, as studies in the wild are few. They have been known to be extremely aggressive in captivity, which suggests that they are significantly more territorial than the other species of aquatic turtles.

Pig-nosed turtles have experienced a decline in population of more than 50%. Smuggling is still present, despite the protection of of Indonesian law.
