Evolution of the moon

The Moon's evolution is a complex process that spans billions of years. It formed around 4.5 billion years ago as a result of a collision between a Mars-sized protoplanet and the young Earth. The impact caused debris to be ejected into space, which eventually coalesced to form the Moon.
