The Desire of Our Heart Leads to God Himself - August 20, 2023 - OLC Sunday Homily

In his first Sunday homily as a priest, on the Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time at Our Lady's Chapel in New Bedford, Fr. Charles M. Robinson reflects on the truth that our hearts desire the goodness that ultimately leads to God Himself.

Father analyzes the opening prayer of Mass (the Collect), which he paraphrases from the Latin: "O God, pour into our hearts the warmth of Your love so that we may attain Your promises," and explains how this prayer of hope refers to promises of unseen things that God has prepared. Those promises are given in this life in sign and symbol, as in the Sacraments which confer real grace, and which will be given to us in glory in the life to come, if we live as we ought here and now.
