How do planets get their Names?

NASA doesn't directly name planets; that's typically done by the International Astronomical Union (IAU). They often use mythological figures, historical figures, or names with cultural significance. NASA and other space agencies may propose names for newly discovered celestial bodies, and the IAU reviews and approves them.
