As a freshman, I had what many consider to be an amazing season at Georgia Tech. I led my team in homeruns, RBIs, games played, zero errors, and helped lead us to the college World Series. Then, I slumped my entire sophomore season and basically hated life. This was followed with having to completely miss my junior season (draft year), with major injuries to my shoulder and back requiring two surgeries. The constant pain was bad enough I thought I might never play ball again. I had basically lost my status as a big time prospect, and the uncertainty about my future was killing me. I finally decided to hand over the reigns and put my baseball career in God's hands. I stopped worrying about the future so much and just tried to focus on the blessings and tasks of the day. I became far less judgmental of others and more grateful for the simple things in life.

Ultimately, my body mended and I was able to make quite a comeback the next year at Georgia Tech.

It felt amazing to play the game with reckless abandon again, and no longer constantly thinking about my future as a player. I enjoyed my team, and the game itself, in the present moment, day by day.

When I was drafted my the Phillies, I wanted something to always remind me that no matter how tough things get, anything is possible and there is always hope to be had if God is in control. This is a compilation of some great moments from my freshman and redshirt junior seasons. I'd watch it whenever I felt like the game was starting to get the best of me, and I needed to reset my thinking.
