The Apollo missions of the 1960s and 1970s were the first and only human missions to the Moon. During these missions, the astronauts conducted a variety of scientific experiments and collected samples of lunar material. Since then, NASA has continued to evaluate the Moon from a distance using robotic spacecraft. These spacecraft have mapped the Moon's surface, studied its composition, and measured its gravity field.
