Unique Asteroid Discovered by NASA 😯

This artist's representation showcases Psyche, a metallic world identified as an asteroid positioned between Mars and Jupiter. Named Psyche, NASA's spacecraft is scheduled for launch in 2023 and projected to reach the asteroid by 2026. Over a period of 21 months, the spacecraft will meticulously orbit the asteroid, conducting mapping and comprehensive property studies. The mission, led by Principal Investigator Lindy Elkins-Tanton from Arizona State University, is overseen by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, handling management, system engineering, integration and testing, as well as mission operations. The spacecraft chassis with high-power solar electric propulsion is supplied by Maxar Technologies.
