In this lecture, we will review how new scientific research shows that environmental influences can actually affect whether and how genes are expressed.

The old ideas that genes are “set in stone” or that they alone determine development have been disproven. Nature vs. Nurture is no longer a debate—it’s nearly always both! Nature (biological and genetic influences) vs Nurture (environmental influences beginning in the womb).

Child Development is the scientific study of processes of change and stability in human children (Martorell, 2023).
