The work phase is followed by a comparatively shorter rest phase, allowing the heart rate to drop slightly while maintaining some level of movement. The rest phase is crucial for recovery and preventing exhaustion, enabling participants to give their best effort during the subsequent work phase. These cycles of intense activity and recovery are repeated several times within a typical HIIT workout session, usually lasting anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes.
