At that time the F4 Phantom II had a revolutionary design and has been serving the US Air Force, US NAVY and the US Marines for many years. It could reach a top speed at MACH 2.2 Phantom production ran from 1958 to 1981 with a total of 5,195 aircraft build. The fighter did set 15 world records for its in-flight performance.
