We have been eating chapati for a long time, and no one claims it to be a risk factor for our health. But consuming Maggie on the daily basis is considered to be hazardous for health. But the thing worth pondering is if this refined wheat flour or 'Maida' is really a risk to health or is it just a myth.

There are three layers of nutrition in every single grain of wheat. The outermost layer is called Bran, which contains Fiber, Minerals, and Vitamin B. The middle layer is called Endosperm, this layer is worse for health containing only starchy carbohydrates. The innermost layer is considered best in terms of nutrients, this layer is called Germ, which contains nutrients, Vitamin B, Vitamin E, and healthy fats.

Both Wheat flour and Refined wheat flour ie., Maida are made using Wheat. However, the processing of wheat flour Keeps all three layers including Bran, Germ, and Endosperm available in the flour. But for getting Maida from wheat, Bran and Germ layer are removed, and nowthis refined flour contains only the endosperm layer which is the least nutritious. Some more chemicals are added to this refined flour to make it more white and fluffy, which makes it even more unhealthy. Hence, the wheat flour or 'Atta' is not considered unhealthy because of the presence of all three layers including Bran, Germ, and Endosperm. But Maida is claimed to be health disastrous even when it is also a product of wheat, this is because of the presence of only and only endosperm layer in it. Thankful To:
