“Judgment Day”
In the parable of the wheat and the tares, in Matthew 13, describes the dilemma of sin in humanity and what God plans to do about it. The righteous and the wicked grow together, often indistinguishable, until Christ returns, sorts the two groups according to His own standard of judgment, then rewards the one and punishes the other. One of the biggest ideas in this parable is that God must execute a final judgment at some point in time to determine who lives forever, and who does not. This premise has formed the basis of many a scary movie, but the Bible shows us that the concept of God’s final judgment is a great relief to those who love God - quite the opposite of a scary time when the scary Divine Judge looks for reasons to smite you.
