The Piano Sonata No. 5 in C minor, Op. 10, No. 1 by Ludwig van Beethoven, was composed between 1796–98. It is considered as a prelude to the best-known works in C minor such as the Sonata Pathétique and the Fifth Symphony. The three sonatas of this Op. 10 are dedicated to Anna Margarete von Browne, wife of one of Beethoven's patrons.

The sonata is divided into three movements:

I. Allegro molto e con brio
II. Adagio molto
III.Finale: Prestissimo
