Why Mario Lego Took So Long to Make

Lego and Nintendo are teaming up to make Mario Lego!

Soon we’ll be able to race Lego Mario past a Lego Piranha Plant, past a Lego Monty Mole, over Lego Goombahs and on top of Lego Koopas, all in a goal to reach the flagpole, defeat Lego Bowser, and rescue Lego Princess Peach.

Maybe this isn’t a big deal to you, but it is to us. We are a Lego loving family, and so when we heard that Lego and Nintendo were going to collaborate, we knew we all needed to get involved. This video features all three of us, and you’ll see all of our hands at some point.

Believe it or not, we had been working on a Nintendo Lego video before this announcement even came along. We wanted to make this video last month, but sourcing all the Lego we needed for it took too long, so we put it off. When the Lego Mario announcement came, we knew that now was the moment, so we powered through to get it to you ASAP!

Obviously, this is a very experimental video. If we’d done something more traditional, it would have been ready a lot sooner, but we wanted to take the time to try something new. Hope you like it!

Special thanks to the wonderful Before Mario blog for photos and details on Nintendo N&B blocks, and, yes, we know they appear as an Easter Egg in Super Mario Land 2 on the Game Boy.

We’re excited to learn more about the new Mario Lego sets in the near future. In the meantime, we’re off to Legoland tomorrow! Told you we’re a big Lego loving family!

Lots of love
