NASA space jumping

NASA has never done a space jump. The closest thing they have done is the spacewalk, which is when an astronaut exits the International Space Station (ISS) to perform maintenance or repairs. Spacewalking is done in a controlled environment, with the astronaut tethered to the ISS at all times.

The only person to ever jump from space was Felix Baumgartner, a daredevil who partnered with Red Bull in 2012 to attempt the feat. Baumgartner jumped from a balloon that took him to an altitude of 24 miles (39 kilometers), which is considered the edge of space. He broke the sound barrier during his freefall and landed safely on the ground.
