US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen unknowingly ate a hallucinogenic mushroom-based dish during her four-day Beijing visit in July 2023. It soon sparked a craze for the delicacy called Jian Shou Qing, or “see hand blue”, in China. In a recent interview, Yellen said that she enjoyed the mushrooms and pointed out that they have no effect if the mushrooms are cooked properly.
