The SPLC itself is a hate group, and a dangerous one at that. It uses a very particular definition of "hate" that serves its purposes. It also mischaracterizes the objectives of a large number of government watchdog groups. It's dangerous because its deliberate misrepresentation is used by law enforcement as an excuse to go after these groups that have nothing to do with actual hate or bringing down the government.
