Massachusetts woman drowns while trying to save son at Franconia Falls in New Hampshire

On Tuesday, a tragic incident unfolded at Franconia Falls as a Massachusetts woman lost her life while attempting to rescue her son from a swift and swirling current.

The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department reported that Melissa Bagley, 44, of Lynn, along with her family and a family friend from Salem, had embarked on a trip to Franconia Falls, arriving at the Lincoln Woods trailhead at 1 p.m.

During their visit to the falls, an unfortunate incident occurred when the family’s 10-year-old son slipped and fell into one of the pools, WCVB reported.

Responding to her maternal instincts, Melissa Bagley, the boy’s mother, leaped into the river to aid her child but quickly encountered difficulties.
