What's goin on Tac Army!? I'm Erick Benhardtson, your host for TMTV's Headbangers Ball!

This is the first of many in a series coming every seven weeks. Some of the heaviest of both Metal and Hard Rock. I find US Army Pyschological Operations fascinating, and that inspired me to do this series. So you'll have to wait another seven weeks and I hope this one thought flashes through your brain, "What will Tacticorememes play on the next one? I love this series!"

With that said, meet...US Army Sergeant (SGT) Mark Hadsell of the US Army's 361st Psychological Operations Company. During operations in the Middle East SGT Hadsell was quoted as saying, "These people (jihadis) haven't heard heavy metal. They can't take it. If you play it for 24 hours, your brain and body functions start to slide, your train of thought slows down, and your will is broken. That's when we come in and talk to them."

A perfect example of this type of psychological interrogation technique can be seen in the critically acclaimed film, Zero Dark Thirty. In the scene within the CIA black site where Jason Clarke's character Dan, who is a lead interrogator has Pavlov's Dogs song 'Rorschach' cranked to 11 for 96 hours on repeat when they come in to interrogate Al Qaeda operative Ammar, played by Reda Kateb.

Now, transition that to anyone. Yeah, the heavy metal music, sleep deprivation, minimal food, if any, minimal access to water, and you will hear their brain will...break...and whatever you want to know? You can extract!

US Army psychological operations have been used in 100s of operations throughout the world. One of their most famous being Operation Just Cause, (Watch: HEADBANGERS BALL S1E7-Black Sites & Psyops Greatest Hits Vol. 1).

The Ball is a weekly show of the greatest heavy music we've all grown up with. I'm GenX. When I was a kid, Headbanger's Ball was our Saturday Night Party. Jean and leather jackets with all of favorite bands were worn proudly watching rock and metal videos in the 80's until MTV went and bent us over in '95. Leaving us with other shows that just weren't The Ball.
