The game is powered by the Unreal Engine 5 and features high-definition character models with realistic skin and hair textures. The gameplay will focus on "aggressiveness" and will have a new "Heat" gauge system, in addition to returning gameplay features from Tekken 7, such as Rage system-based attacks.

The story mode of Tekken 8 will focus on the father-and-son showdown between Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama. Kazuya is seeking revenge for Jin's betrayal, while Jin is determined to stop him from unleashing the Devil Gene on the world.

The game has been confirmed to include a number of returning characters from previous Tekken games, such as Heihachi Mishima, Paul Phoenix, Nina Williams, and Ling Xiaoyu. New characters have also been announced, including a mysterious masked fighter known as the "Man in Black".
