Former US President Donald Trump has been accused of trying to overturn the outcome of the 2020 election in Georgia, marking the fourth instance of criminal charges brought against him within a span of five months.
The prominent Republican contender for the 2024 presidential race, Mr. Trump, was formally charged alongside 18 other associates. He strongly refutes the 13 allegations leveled against him, including accusations of racketeering and interference with the election process, asserting that these charges are driven by political motives.
The investigation initiated by Georgia prosecutor Fani Willis in February 2021 initially focused on claims of election interference involving Mr. Trump and his colleagues. In a comprehensive 98-page indictment released on Monday, prosecutors outlined a total of 41 charges encompassing all 19 defendants.
