Cattle are out on the far ranges during summer. No horses in general area or other livestock but if so, this would be the major hassle it usually is for ranchers and farmers. Despite these huge holes and larger complexes springing up all over the place, never in yard grass (exempting winter damage of tunnel complexes now regrown) and this is the closest any got to a garden. If out at night, the cats nail these constantly ... first time I saw a big one like this I suspected a RAT for a moment. Disgusting chore to dispose of the ... remains ... that ARE dragged back and strewn on yard but for now the digging is beneficial because ...

... Constant need for more loose soil than I can get my hands on or fill a wheelbarrow with; slope bracing, level fills and especially large amounts needed to cover the exploding lines of pumpkin and squash vines (increases yield; helps protect). Thought would be simple but have gone through a couple wheelbarrows already and need 10x more. These mounds provide a good supply of fresh, broken-up soil delivered fresh from below. Mix with cattle manure (dry) and is a super plant support medium.
