Mitsotakis' New Democracy Party wins parliamentary majority in Greece

In the general elections in Greece, according to unofficial results, the New Democracy Party led by Kiryakos Mitsotakis, who has been in power alone for the last four years, won the majority in the parliament.
According to the data announced by the Ministry of Interior, after the unofficial results, where 97.75 percent of the ballot boxes were opened, the New Democracy Party was entitled to send 158 deputies to the 300-seat parliament with 40.56 percent.
The Radical Left Alliance (SYRIZA) won 47 parliamentary seats with 17.83 percent of the vote, securing its position as the main opposition.
The PASOK-KINAL alliance won 32 seats with 11.86 percent, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) 20 seats with 7.67 percent, the Greek Solution Party 12 seats with 4.45 percent, the Victory Party 10 seats with 3.7 percent,, and the Freedom Cruise Party 8 seats with 3.17 percent.
The far-right Spartans Party, whose support was announced by former Golden Dawn MP Ilias Kasidiaris, who was not allowed to participate in the elections by the Greek judiciary, managed to get 13 deputies into the parliament with 4.68 percent of the vote.
According to the unofficial results of the elections, where the turnout was about 53 percent, New Democracy exceeded the 151 seats required to come to power alone.
President Katerina Sakelaropoulou will receive Mitsotakis tomorrow to give him the task of forming a government, the presidency said in a statement.
