How to Take Feedback That Hurts

How do you take criticism or feedback if you're called salesy, sleazy, or greedy? Sometimes we get defensive, especially cuz it feels like a personal attack when we know, like in our heart of hearts, that we're serving in the highest integrity we can, in the light of wanting to just be of service to people.

And when we do that and then we get this feedback, it's like a blow to the abdomen and. We can often get defensive or reactive, but I've realized something, the reason that that feedback hurts is because even though the feedback might be inaccurate, maybe even a personal attack, maybe even rude, the reason that it hurts is because there's this tiny little shred of truth.

It might not mean you're salesy. It might not mean you're sleazy, and it might not mean you're greedy. But what it does mean is that how you made someone feel. Has a shred of truth. And even though it may not reflect who you are as a person, it's an opportunity to look inwards and say, why does this hurt so much and how do I get better?
