Vice President of the Government Accountability Institute Eric Eggers spoke with Tom Basile and Katrina Szish on American Agenda on Newsmax last week to offer his reaction to U.S. Attorney David Weiss being appointed special counsel in the ongoing Hunter Biden probe.
Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed Weiss late last week.
Basile questions the "optics" of the appointment, calling it "odd."
"Odd is one word to use," Eggers says, adding "Another word may be 'illegal.' Many people have pointed out that the law may require a special counsel to come from outside the government and Mr. Weiss actually comes from the opposite of that —he literally works for the DOJ right now."
"People should be rightfully concerned," Eggers says.
