Cheryl Murray was only 15 when she noticed a weird bump on her foot. At first, she wasn’t concerned about the bump and decided to ignore it. As she got older, the bump increased in size and became big as a golf ball. Only the sole thought of putting a golf ball growth together with your foot inside of a shoe gives us the creeps! It is impossible right?

In 2014, Cheryl’s boyfriend David asked about her foot and advised her to go have her lump checked out. When Cheryl finally decided to visit a doctor and ask about her curious bump, she got the biggest surprise of her life. Having ignored the growth on her foot for over a decade, doctors had to have her leg amputated.

When she finally saw a doctor after ignoring a bump on her foot for 12 years, doctors discovered the worst and had to act fast in order to keep the cancer from spreading further.

Cheryl has maintained a positive outlook throughout the ordeal. “I never let myself wish I’d have gone to the doctors sooner as I have come to terms with what has happened, I am now proud to be an amputee” says Cheryl Murray.

Doctors took Cheryl’s growth seriously and conducted a number of tests to found out the worst. It was a rare form of cancer called sarcoma.

When Cheryl found out the truth she was hysterical, stunned and speechless. This sad story should serve as a reminder that we should visit the doctor’s office at least once a year. So, have you been to a doctor lately?
