Reid+Wolken are a Dunedin based contemporary jazz duo. Combining the dark-hued sultry timbres of vocalist Karin Reid with the distinctive harmonically and the texturally rich approach of guitarist Alex Wolken. They have been honing a unique sound dubbed 'indie jazz-noir' for the last few years, incorporating a 'hypno jazz' vibe more recently, coaxing expansive harmonies and subtle grooves from their minimal setup. Repertoire ranges from moody and textural takes on modern jazz vocalese through to original compositions which evince the influence of classical and the avant-garde.
