NASA astronaut Scott Kelly uses special paddles with hydrophobic properties to pass a sphere of water back and forth in microgravity, demonstrating the unique capabilities of the space station for advancing scientific knowledge. The paddles have microscopic posts and a Teflon coating that prevent water adhesion, allowing for larger droplets to be broken up with less force and smaller droplets to be hit harder.
