Growing up, I've fallen into the camp of declaring Sonic The Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles was my favorite Sonic game ever, however recently I've been replaying the original games a lot thanks to Sonic Origins - and I mean a lot... And after doing so, I ended up coming to the realization I never found Sonic 3 as my favorite. Sonic 3 suffers from an over-abundance of instant-crusher deaths, intrusive gimmicks and three zones in particular which are a complete drag and halt the pace. It's the pacing that allows me to enjoy Sonic 1 and 2 so much, they're pretty short but straight to the point, concise and well designed in almost every aspect. Course both games aren't perfect either but Sonic 3... I still enjoy it for what it is but typically now, I realize I find most lets play a slog to get through. A slog of frustration. This video basically quickly goes over the whys and also a quick review of these games by extension.

This was just a fun video idea I've wanted too since I got Origins a few months back. I'm aware Origins has a lot of problems and it ain't the definitive way to play these games but for me personally it's the most convenient. I like to play these games cuz' they can be a quick-blast of awesome levels that have better experiences if you're skilled and focused, Origins doesn't take that away at all.
