Junior doctors in the UK are on the third day of the latest round of their highly disruptive strike over pay.
The industrial action began Friday and will continue until Tuesday. It includes action by doctors, just days into the medical practice and could push the total number of appointments cancelled due to the NHS strikes past one million. The junior doctors are demanding a 35-percent pay rise. The government says this is unrealistic and not negotiable. Its proposal is a fourth of what junior doctors seek. Rolling strikes by NHS staff since December are estimated to have cost the service nearly 1-point-3 billion dollars. The number of people on waiting lists for treatment has also surged to a record 7-point-6 million.
