Saudi Arabia has named a non-resident ambassador for the occupied Palestinian Territories who will also serve as consul general in Al-Quds.
The announcement marks the FIRST time the kingdom will have official diplomatic representation in Palestine. The role will be filled by the current Saudi ambassador to Jordan, who traditionally handles the Palestine file for Riyadh. Saudi Arabia said the move is an important step that underscores the desire to boost ties with the state of Palestine. The announcement comes amid reports that Riyadh and Washington have held talks on Saudi conditions on normalization with Israel.
