Results of Rotational Burning for Deer and Grouse Habitat

This State Game Lands has been on burn rotations for decades. It was burned a couple springs ago and the aspen and oak has flourished as well as wild flowers.
Aspen is probably the most important food and cover source for grouse and it responds well to clearcut/burn treatments. Oak is also very fire adapted and will dominate a stand that is burned repeatedly.
