Repair and PREPARE Your Survival Gear Now! Repair In The Field. Having the necessary equipment to repair your gear and clothing in the field can be a life saver. I use Gorilla Tape for minor / temporary repairs to my ponchos, tarps and some clothing. I have even used it to patch a leaky canoe. For my clothing and packs I generally carry a sewing kit. Complete with different size needles and threads, I can patch up anything that should be damaged in the field.
