Chicken lasagna is a delicious and comforting dish that's a variation of the classic Italian lasagna. Instead of using beef or pork, it features chicken as the main protein. Here's a basic recipe to help you make chicken lasagna:
Ingredients:
9 lasagna noodles, cooked according to package instructions
2 cups cooked and shredded chicken (you can use leftover cooked chicken or cook chicken breasts and shred them)
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup ricotta cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 cups marinara sauce
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken, ricotta cheese, half of the shredded mozzarella cheese, half of the grated Parmesan cheese, dried basil, dried oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine.
In a separate bowl, mix the marinara sauce with olive oil. This will help prevent the noodles from sticking to the sauce.
In a 9x13-inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of the marinara sauce mixture on the bottom.
Place three cooked lasagna noodles on top of the sauce.
Spread half of the chicken and cheese mixture evenly over the noodles.
Top with another layer of three lasagna noodles.
Spread another layer of sauce over the noodles.
Spread the remaining chicken and cheese mixture over the sauce.
Top with the final layer of three lasagna noodles.
Spread the remaining marinara sauce mixture over the top layer of noodles.
Sprinkle the remaining shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese over the sauce.
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the lasagna is heated through.
Once cooked, remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Garnish with fresh basil or parsley, if desired, before serving.
