Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has ordered "contact" with neighbouring Poland amid rising border tensions. Lukashenko, a close ally of Vladimir Putin, made the comment on August 11, adding that Minsk was ready to talk with Warsaw. Lukashenko says he has “ordered the prime minister to contact” the Polish side amid concern in Warsaw about the presence of Wagner fighters near the Poland-Belarus border.
Lukashenko’s offer to talk came a day after Warsaw announced it would send 10,000 troops to its border with Belarus.
