Hi, it’s Patrik Hutzel from intensivecarehotline.com with another quick tip for families in intensive care.

So, one frustration that we hear all the time from families in intensive care is that they don’t get told results, and chest x-rays and, CT (Computerized Tomography) scan results quick enough. Well, that’s an easy fix for that. Well, you, as a power of attorney or next of kin for your loved one in intensive care, you have the right to access medical records and you should get access to medical records from day one.

In this day and age, in 2022, it should be as simple as you getting a link to a URL to a website with a username and a password. And voila, there, you should have access to the medical records, 24 hours a day. You should be able to access that at a drop of a hat, really. If intensive care teams are not giving you access to medical records, if you are the power of attorney or the next of kin, you should be asking yourself what they have to hide? It should be full transparency.

So, we haven’t really had any clients that haven’t had access to medical record records. It’s a right, it’s not a privilege.

So, that is my quick tip for today.

If you have a loved one in intensive care, go to intensivecarehotline.com. Call us on one of the numbers on the top of our website, or simply send us an email to support@intensivecarehotline.com.
